Advanced SQF Practitioner & Food Safety Manager
We are seeking an advanced SQF practitioner who will assume all aspects of responsibility necessary to take our facility to complete SQF certification. This person will lead and oversee all development, implementation, review, monitoring, verification, validation, and auditing of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) system, including the Food Safety Fundamentals and Food Safety Plan. As our SQF Practitioner and Certification Lead, will also serve as the Quality Assurance Manager, responsible for managing daily quality operations. Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, customer, quality, and regulatory requirements. This role owns both the ongoing QA function and the development, implementation, and execution of the SQF Food Safety and Quality System. This is a key leadership position with full authority to build programs, drive compliance, and partner with operations to establish a strong food safety culture.
What You’ll Do :
- Sole responsibility over the build, design, development and implementation of a brand new SQF program at the facility.
- Handle all details and aspects required to elevate the facility to meet SQF requirements. This includes responsibility to develop, implement, maintain the integrity of the SQF Code system, initiating an annual review with senior management, as well as monthly updates provided to senior management on the implementation and maintenance of the SQF system.
- Serve as the designated SQF Practitioner with full responsibility for SQF system development
- Conduct SQF gap assessments and create an implementation roadmap
- Build, implement, and maintain the SQF Food Safety and Quality System
- Lead the facility through initial SQF certification, including audit preparation and execution
- Act as the primary point of contact for SQF auditors, regulatory agencies, and customer audits
- Lead internal audits, risk assessments, and management review meetings
- Train employees at all levels on SQF requirements, food safety, and GMPs

- Inform management of all significant non-conformities and take action to maintain the integrity of the SQF program.
- Assist Senior Management in establishing and implementing continuous improvement processes to improve the effectiveness of the SQF program.

What Experience and Education You Need :
- Minimum of four to six years’ experience working in a food manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Associate’s degree in a science-related field (bachelor’s degree preferred), or equivalent education and experience combination.
- ASQ certification a plus (e.g. CQA, CQE, CFSQA)
- Strong knowledge of SQF Code, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, FDA regulations, and audit standards
- Completed a HACCP training course.
- Completed PCQI (preventive controls for human food course)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Experience developing, implementing and maintaining food safety management systems.
- Qualified SQF Practitioner or ability to qualify as SQF Practitioner

Quality Assurance
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading the food safety and quality assurance programs within the bakery production facility. This role ensures that all products are produced in compliance with company standards, customer specifications, and all applicable regulatory requirements, including GMPs, HACCP, SQF/BRC standards if applicable, and local, state, and federal food safety regulations. The Quality Assurance Manager works closely with production, sanitation, maintenance, and warehouse teams to maintain product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety and Quality Systems
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve quality assurance and food safety programs for the bakery facility.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA (if applicable), state and local health regulations, and third-party audit standards such as SQF or BRC.
- Oversee HACCP plans, allergen control programs, environmental monitoring, traceability, recall readiness, and food defense programs.
- Maintain and verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation standards, and standard operating procedures.

Sanitation
The Sanitation Worker is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, utensils, and facility areas to ensure a safe, clean, and food-safe bakery manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with company sanitation standards, food safety programs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and all applicable regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation Duties
- Clean and sanitize bakery production lines, mixers, ovens, racks, pans, conveyors, floors, walls, drains, and other equipment and facility areas.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for proper cleaning and sanitation.
- Follow established sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) and master sanitation schedules.

Maintenance
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment, facility systems, and support machinery in a high-volume wholesale bakery plant. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, supporting efficient production, and maintaining safe and reliable equipment operation throughout the facility. The Maintenance Technician works as part of the maintenance team to complete preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, equipment installations, and general mechanical and electrical support while following all company safety, food safety, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of or willingness to learn ammonia and refrigeration systems, operation, and maintenance is required.

- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain bakery production equipment, packaging equipment, warehouse equipment, and facility systems to support continuous operation.
